We spent yesterday rafting the Taos Box for the first time this season. The weather had us concerned, but in the end it was a beautiful day. The river was running around 1500 cfs up there, which is a very forgiving level with lots of great waves. It also makes for a great trip time. We left Santa Fe at around 8am and got back at 3:45pm. The solitude of early season rafting trips in New Mexico is unmatched. We did not see any other people or boats while we rafted the river. We saw the bighorns around lunch time. The leaves haven’t started yet on the hackberry trees. All in all it was a beautiful day of rafting in New Mexico.
