Great Time on the Rio Grande! “I selected Kokopelli based on their reviews regarding their trips as well as their safety record. They didn’t let us down. The trip information and safety instructions at the beginning were thorough and, as it turned out, very useful. I say useful because I wound up in the water… Our guide, Armaan, was great and quickly got me back in the boat. The remainder of the trip was not as eventful but a whole lot of fun. I definitely recommend Kokopelli.”

From my first rafting experience until now, I’ve been glamoured with the river. After years of talking about it, I made the decision in 2017 to become a river guide.

From my first rafting experience until now, I’ve been glamoured with the river. After years of talking about it, I made the decision in 2017 to become a river guide.  I’m glad to be a part of Kokopelli Rafting Adventures because lives are positively impacted by adventures, and the Rio Grande and Rio Chama are two rivers that have changed mine.

I have a heart for working with at-risk youth in a variety of experiential education settings, and working for Kokopelli has given me opportunities to make a difference in future generations. We’ll keep you safe while guiding you down the ride of your life. When I’m not paddling, my wife and I are raising a beautiful son who is just starting out on a life of outdoor adventure.

My day job is analyzing jury usage data for courts statewide and engage in multiple community efforts. Backpacking, mountain biking, camping, canoeing, fishing and playing bass are some things I love and I’m an avid fan of wordplay and puns.

Kokopelli Guide: since 2017
What I like most about rafting is: Working as a team to navigate a river is a thrilling and rewarding experience for both the guide and the passengers. The splashing of the water as it comes over the tubes, the dull roar of rapids gushing delightfully as the boat moves across the waves and the satisfaction of knowing we shared an experience that is so difficult to put into words yet is difficult to stop talking about. Those are the moments that matter most to me as a guide.

Favorite river and why:  The Rio Chama has a 24.6 mile stretch designated as Wild & Scenic in 1988 and is one of the most beautiful rivers in New Mexico. A multi-day trip down those waters refreshes a person to their core and being able to disconnect from the outside world for a few days is a welcome change.

Favorite river-relate story:  The best story is the one we will weave together on the river! Let’s go paddle!

What are your other hobbies, interests, or passions and why are they important to you.  I volunteer for a Teen Court program and have more hobbies than I probably should. I love the outdoors, love music and spending time on the water.

What type of certifications do you have, degrees, etc.  I am Wilderness First Aid certified as well as a host of other certificates I’ve collected over the years. I am currently enrolled at Grand Canyon University and hope to complete my Bachelor’s in May 2022.
