Wren Freeman
MEET WREN
My name is Wren Freeman and I've been a raft guide since 2013. I'm originally from Dunwoody, GA and I've always had a passion for the outdoors.
I grew up in the Boy Scouts, which is where I found my love for the river. Shortly after college, I started a summer job guiding rafts on several rivers in North Carolina. I quickly discovered that raft guiding was my calling and something I wanted to keep doing and have been a guide ever since!
I love anything related to the outdoors, especially action sports like whitewater kayaking, climbing, and skiing. There’s so much to see and do outside. I think it’s good for the soul and I love sharing it with others. When I’m not working on the river during the off-season, I’m a ski instructor at Taos Ski Valley, where I’ve been teaching for two seasons. I love being an outdoor professional. It has given me the chance to have experiences that many don’t get the change to experience. For that, I’m very fortunate!
Kokopelli Guide: since 2017
Favorite Color: Whitewater
Favorite river and why: My favorite river is the Tellico River in Tennessee. It’s a 5-mile section of the river with about 5 waterfalls on it. They range from 5 feet to about 25 feet tall. Most of them are very safe. The best way I can describe it is it’s just good, clean fun!
My favorite river-related story is: When I was guiding in North Carolina, I took an 82 year old woman down the river in a double ducky. She wasn’t the least bit nervous and was having the time of her life (her words)! It was an awesome trip for both of us!
